Ongoing Court Case – August 12, 2025

A Blakesburg man is facing additional charges after authorities say he failed to comply with Iowa’s sex offender registry requirements during a traffic stop in August 2025.

According to court documents, Jacobe Deiters, 21, of Blakesburg, was previously charged with telephone dissemination of obscene material. As a result of that conviction, he was required to register as a sex offender under Iowa law.

A criminal complaint states that during a traffic stop on August 2, 2025, Deiters failed to provide the Wapello County Sheriff’s Department with required vehicle information, including the vehicle identification number (VIN) and Iowa license plate number. Iowa law requires registered sex offenders to report all vehicle information, including license plate numbers and VINs, to authorities.

Court records indicate Deiters did not submit the required information. He was arrested and transported to the Wapello County Jail, then released on August 8, 2025, on a $2,000 cash/surety bond.

On March 16, 2026, a public/bench warrant was served. Deiters is currently being held in the Wapello County Jail on a $2,000 cash-only bond.

A bond revocation hearing is scheduled for April 21.

Deiters is facing the following charges related to the August 2, 2025 incident:

  • Sex offender registry violation (first offense), aggravated misdemeanor
  • Providing false information as a sex offender (first offense), aggravated misdemeanor
  • Violation of probation
