Frustration is mounting as lawmakers struggle to finalize a solution for nationwide E15.
Iowa Ag Secretary Mike Naig says the congressional Rural Domestic Energy Council continues to hash out details with stakeholders.
“We’re all still a little frustrated that this couldn’t have been accomplished in another fashion there at the end of January, but you have to take the opportunities as they come.”
He tells Brownfield draft E15 language has been circulating.
“That’s getting some critique from I think both sides. But look, at the end of the day what we need is that year-round access to E15 all across this country.”
Naig says he won’t give up on passing nationwide E15 if the Council fails to meet its February 25th deadline.
“This is a legislative process, meaning that there’s a back and forth, there’s negotiations. And we should play this out as far as we possibly can with the hopes that we can in fact get a piece of legislation on the Floor and ultimately on the President’s desk.”
And he points out President Trump pledged to sign an E15 bill during a recent stop in Iowa.
