Brighton Teen Dies in Single-Vehicle Crash in Jefferson County

A 19-year-old Brighton man was killed Sunday morning, February 8th, in a single-vehicle accident on a rural Jefferson County road.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, Ole A. Olson died at the scene following a crash in the 1400 block of Germanville Road, between Lockridge and Brighton.

On Sunday, February 8th, at 7:44 a.m., the Jefferson County Communications Center received a 911 call regarding a motor vehicle accident. At 7:56 a.m., deputies arrived on scene and observed a 1990 Ford Mustang on its side on the west side of Germanville Road.

The vehicle appeared to have been traveling northbound when, for unknown reasons, it lost control, entered the ditch, struck an embankment, and rolled. As a result of the crash, Olson sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Olson was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident. Despite the safety restraint, he could not be saved.

The crash remains under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol. The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Fairfield Police Department, Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Jefferson County Ambulance, Lockridge First Responders, and Iowa State Patrol.

No additional details about the circumstances leading to the loss of control have been released at this time.
