A Washington, Iowa man is facing felony charges after two firearms were discovered on the grounds of Washington High School last spring.
Jedadiah West Reed Holden, 21, has been charged with two counts of carrying weapons on school grounds, both Class D felonies under Iowa law. Court records show that a pretrial conference originally scheduled for January 7 was continued, and a new pretrial conference has now been set for February 11.
The charges stem from an incident in late May 2025, when two handguns were found near the baseball field at Washington High School. According to investigators, surveillance footage from May 22 showed an individual placing items beneath a tree on school property. Those items were later identified as the firearms.
After reviewing the video and conducting an investigation, authorities identified Holden as the suspect. He was arrested in June 2025 and booked on the two felony charges. Bond was set at $10,000.
Under Iowa law, carrying weapons on school grounds is considered a serious offense due to strict gun-free school zone regulations intended to protect students, staff, and the public. Class D felonies can carry penalties that include prison time and fines, depending on the outcome of the case and the defendant’s criminal history.
Court proceedings remain ongoing, and the continuance indicates additional time may be needed for case preparation, evidence review, or potential plea discussions.
