A routine patrol by the Wapello County Sheriff’s Department resulted in the arrest of an individual wanted on a warrant while at a convenience store.
On January 13th at approximately 1:03 PM, the Wapello County Sheriff’s Department observed Kimberly Wylie, 26, of Ottumwa, at Casey’s on W. Mary Street. The criminal complaint indicates that the Deputy Sheriff was aware of a valid arrest warrant issued for Wylie. Upon confrontation, Wylie was informed of the warrant and attempted to flee from law enforcement.
Once apprehended, Wylie intentionally stepped on a small black bag. Inside the bag, officials discovered a glass smoking pipe with methamphetamine residue. Beneath the pipe was a small clear ziplock baggie containing a crystalline substance consistent with methamphetamine. Subsequent testing confirmed that the substance was indeed methamphetamine.
Wylie was taken into custody and placed in the Wapello County Jail, later being released on a $300 bond. Her initial court appearance is scheduled for January 20th. Wylie faces charges of possession of drug paraphernalia (a simple misdemeanor) and interference with official acts (a simple misdemeanor).
