Law enforcement responded to a reported domestic dispute in Eldon that resulted in an arrest and injury to a family member.
On January 18 at approximately 2:23 p.m., the Wapello County Sheriff’s Department was dispatched to the 300 block of 7th Street in Eldon for a report of a domestic disturbance.
According to criminal complaints, Melissa Sims, 52, of Eldon allegedly assaulted her mother by grabbing and twisting her wrists and pushing her down into a chair. The victim sustained a bleeding cut on the top of her right hand.
Court documents state Sims is the daughter of the victim and was living with her at the time of the alleged assault.
Sims was taken into custody and is currently being held in the Wapello County Jail on a $1,000 bond. A no-contact order was issued on January 19.
Sims appeared for a preliminary hearing on January 27.
