Police in Ottumwa responded to a domestic assault call that ended with an arrest and multiple charges stemming from the incident.
On January 3 at approximately 9:26 p.m., the Ottumwa Police Department was dispatched to the 500 block of W. Maple Avenue in reference to a reported domestic assault.
According to police complaint records, Angela Baker, 58, of Ottumwa, allegedly struck the victim in the head with a baseball bat, causing injury. Officers observed visible marks on the victim’s jaw that were consistent with the reported assault.
Court documents state Baker was involved in a disturbance with the protected party. Baker is also listed as a defendant in two existing no-contact orders involving the same protected party, which were issued on October 29, 2025, and December 19, 2025.
Baker was arrested and transported to the Wapello County Jail. She was later released on January 5 after posting an $8,000 cash or surety bond. Baker waived her preliminary hearing, and a new no-contact order was issued on January 6.
Baker faces the following charges:
- Willful Injury Causing Bodily Injury, a Class D felony
- Domestic Abuse Assault with Intent to Inflict Serious Injury (first offense), an aggravated misdemeanor
- Violation of a No-Contact Order, contempt, a simple misdemeanor
