The local police department is investigating a sexual assault case involving allegations of non-consensual sexual acts.
The Ottumwa Police Department has been investigating a sexual assault case involving Davelle Dunn, 23, of Ottumwa. According to court records, Dunn engaged in sexual acts with the victim, who was clearly incapacitated due to the effects of alcohol, preventing them from consenting to such acts.
Evidence gathered during the investigation included DNA from Dunn, which was found in the sexual assault kit and at the crime scene. A warrant for Dunn’s arrest was served on January 9th.
Dunn is currently incarcerated at the Wapello County Jail, with a cash-only bond set at $10,000. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for January 20th. Dunn faces charges of third-degree sexual abuse, classified as a Class C felony.
