Mahaska Health is pleased to welcome Melissa Mahon, DNP, CRNA, to the Surgery Services Anesthesia care team. Melissa brings extensive experience in both hospital and critical access settings and is actively involved in community leadership as Mayor of Keosauqua.
Melissa is a certified registered nurse anesthetist with extensive experience in both hospital and critical access settings. Melissa earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice from the University of Iowa and completed advanced training in nursing anesthesia and nursing through Wolford
College, the University of Missouri, and Columbia College. She is board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology.
Melissa has provided independent anesthesia care across a wide range of specialties, including general surgery, obstetrics, orthopedics, and emergency care. She is committed to compassionate, patient-centered care, guided by empathy, active listening, and clear communication.
“Melissa’s expertise and dedication to compassionate, patient-centered care makes her a great addition to our Anesthesia team,” shared Dr. Jesse Van Maanen, Mahaska Health Surgery Medical Director. “We are excited to welcome her to Mahaska Health.”
Originally from small-town Missouri, Melissa and her husband returned to Iowa to raise their family in a close-knit, small-town community similar to the one they both experienced growing up. They now live in Keosauqua, where Melissa also serves as Mayor. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, attending Broadway and comedy shows, and spending time with her family.
