Lyle LeRoy Maudlin, age 87, passed away on January 26, 2026 after a long and well-lived life on Monday January 26, 2026 at Parkview Care Center in Fairfield.
Lyle was born in Oskaloosa, IA the beloved son of Ralph and Mildred Maudlin. He grew up on a farm in Lacey, IA alongside his two brothers, Lester Maudlin and Larry Maudlin, where he learned the values of hard work, dedication, and community that stayed with him throughout his life. He began his career as a meat cutter and later spent most of his working years as a plumber, a trade through which he served and trained many with skill and reliability.
Lyle married his sweetheart, Marjorie “Marge” Maudlin, and together they built a wonderful life rooted in love and family. They were blessed with two sons, Brent and Brad, and Lyle took great pride in being a grandfather to Brent Maudlin II and Holliey Brinkmeier, as well as a great-grandfather to several great-grandchildren.
Lyle was deeply loved by many and believed strongly in giving back to his community. He was a proud member of the Fairfield Elks Lodge #1192 and took great pride in his recent project, bringing the Freedom Rock to Fairfield, a cause that meant a great deal to him.
Lyle was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie (Marge) Maudlin; his sons, Brent Maudlin and Brad Maudlin; his brother, Lester Maudlin; and many dear friends.
A celebration of life will be held at the Fairfield Elks Lodge #1192 on Sunday February 8, 2026 from 3:00PM to 6:00PM. Lyle loved his grandchildren very much. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to assist his grandchildren prepare for their futures may be sent to the family at 2350 Ash Ave, Batavia, IA 52533.
