A southwest Iowa farmer is reflecting on what he calls a good 2025 crop year.
Mark Peterson tells Brownfield corn yields were a pleasant surprise.
“We had another very successful crop year in my mind,” he said. “Corn in particular, the yields were good. As well known, there was a lot of disease pressure around this year.”
He says fungicide applications were critical.
“It appeared to make a huge difference this year. It was a good year to decide that. It’s not something I do every year, but this was the year to have that on.”
Peterson says he was pleased to have an average soybean crop.
“They weren’t phenomenal yields, but they were very good,” he said. “We were fine with that. We did not apply any fungicide or insecticide on the beans. I typically don’t like to do that.”
Peterson farms near Stanton in Montgomery County.
