The Trojan Booster Club will host its annual “Everybody vs. Cancer” fundraiser on Thursday, January 15th, during Fairfield’s girls and boys basketball doubleheader against Pekin at Fairfield High School. The event raises money for cancer research, local cancer patients, and the American Cancer Society.

Thanks to corporate sponsorships, all Fairfield and Pekin basketball players will receive rally towels and “Together We Fight” T-shirts. Varsity action begins with the girls’ game around 6:15 p.m. at the high school and the boys’ game later that evening.

The fundraiser, also known as “Trojans vs. Cancer,” is typically held later in the season, but organizers chose this date to involve neighboring Jefferson County school Pekin in the event. Additional activities include a soup supper hosted by the Fairfield High School Student Council and a dessert auction organized by the booster club in the hallway near the gym. A portion of gate receipts will be donated, and corporate sponsors will present a $500 check to Fairfield Activities Director Jeff Courtright.

Fans will also have opportunities to participate through a duck toss fundraiser and a brief in-stands donation collection. Over the past decade, the event has raised more than $40,000. Organizers credit the success to the combined efforts of booster club members, Student Council, the FHS band, community volunteers, and local sponsors who help coordinate apparel and donations.

Organizers say the event remains important because so many families in the community have been affected by cancer, and continued fundraising helps support research and patient assistance efforts for future generations.
