Arretta B. Covert, 84, of Ottumwa died at 5:51 p.m. January 26, 2026 at Good Samaritan Society – Ottumwa.
She was born July 29, 1941 in Ottumwa to Robert and Verla Lucille Helm Tidball. Arretta married Darrell Covert and they later divorced.
A resident of Ottumwa most of her life, Arretta worked 29 years at Everco. She had also worked at Fiesta Cantina, Busy Bee Laundry, Super 8 Motel and SIEDA.
Arretta volunteered at Blessings Soup Kitchen. She enjoyed going to the casino especially with her niece, Tonya. She loved baking for friends and family and was known for her wonderful pies. Most importantly she loved spending time with her kids, grandkids, and great grandkids.
Surviving is her daughter, Terry Covert of Agency; her son, Darin (Laura) Covert of Ottumwa; 4 grandchildren, Chad (Jessica) Covert, Emily Covert, Austin Covert and Ashley (Tyler) Youngblood; 11 great grandchildren, Adalyn, Greyson, Lincoln, Trae, Corah, Valor, Raelyn, Ace, Ryder, Jack and Lottie.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Marilyn Mallonee and Joleen Boldt; and a brother, Robert Tidball Sr.
Her body has been cremated. Graveside services and inurnment will be 3 p.m. Saturday May 9th at Chillicothe Cemetery.
