Authorities in Newton have arrested a 60-year-old man from Texas following allegations of sexual misconduct involving a child.
Police say the incident took place during a sleepover at a friend’s home, where the victim was staying. Manuel Weeks, who had been living at the residence for several weeks after losing his housing in Texas, is accused of approaching the child late at night and engaging in inappropriate behavior. According to reports, the child tried to push Weeks away before he eventually left the room.
Weeks now faces multiple charges, including a felony for lascivious acts with a child, an aggravated misdemeanor for assault with intent to commit sexual abuse, and a serious misdemeanor for lewd conduct involving a minor. He is scheduled for arraignment on January 5 at 9:30 a.m.
