A 24-year-old Fairfield woman is being held in the Jefferson County Jail after leading police on a pursuit that ended with a traffic accident in downtown Fairfield.

Maverick Meyer faces multiple charges following the incident:

  • Eluding – Serious Misdemeanor
  • Failure to Maintain Control
  • Failure to Obey Traffic Control/Device

Meyer is being held on a $1,000 bond or surety and is facing indictable charges.

According to court records, the incident began when a Fairfield Police officer stopped Meyer for a traffic offense at the intersection of 12th and Jefferson. When requested to provide her driver’s license and registration, Meyer refused to comply with the officer’s demands. Meyer then drove off from the traffic stop, initiating a police pursuit. A fully marked patrol vehicle with emergency lights and siren pursued the fleeing vehicle as Meyer traveled eastbound on Burlington Avenue.

The chase continued as Meyer failed to stop for the pursuing officer. Meyer turned south onto 4th Street, where she struck another vehicle at the traffic light at that intersection. Despite the collision, Meyer continued driving south on 4th Street before finally coming to a stop in the 200 block of South 4th Street, where she was taken into custody by Fairfield Police.
