On July 13th, Ottumwa Police arrested Andrew Jaquez, a 43-year-old man from Prairie City, during a traffic stop. Jaquez was a passenger in the vehicle when officers noticed something suspicious. With the help of a police K-9, they indicated the presence of narcotics, leading to a search of the vehicle.
During the search, officers found 7.5 grams of a crystalline substance in Jaquez’s watch pocket. Court documents state Jaquez has a history of drug-related offenses, including three felony convictions for controlled substances.
He is now facing serious charges: possession of a controlled substance and failure to affix a drug stamp, both classified as Class D felonies. Currently, Jaquez is being held at the Wapello County Jail on a bond of $5,000. A preliminary hearing is set for July 23, 2025, at 10 AM.
