An Ottumwa woman faces several charges after allegedly signing a different name on her traffic citation, according to the Ottumwa Police Department.
38-year-old Emalee Greiner was charged with forger (Class D felony), driving while barred (aggravated misdemeanor), driving while license denied or revoked (serious misdemeanor), identity theft under $1,500 (aggravated misdemeanor), and malicious prosecution (serious misdemeanor).
On January 2, court records say an officer conducted a traffic stop after observing Greiner was driving with no headlights on. Law enforcement says Greiner was barred from driving, and the victim in the passenger seat was suspended.
According to court records, Greiner signed the victim’s name on the citation. Authorities say punishments and a monetary fine, which would be settled at court, were put under the victim’s name.
Court records say Greiner’s driver’s license was revoked last December due to an OWI test failure.
A warrant for Greiner’s arrest was issued on October 14 and she was taken into custody on November 9. She was later released after posting a $5,000 bond.
On November 10, court records say Greiner pleaded not guilty at her initial hearing.
