Ottumwa, Iowa – November 13, 2024 – The Iowa Heartland History Connection is thrilled to announce that Erin Naylor, Director, has been awarded the prestigious Rising Star Award from the Iowa Museum Association. This honor recognizes individuals who have worked or volunteered in the Iowa museum field for 3-5 years and have helped their museum broaden its audience through
engagement activities.
Erin Naylor, who has been with the Iowa Heartland History Connection since 2021, has significantly enhanced the organization’s impact and visibility within the community. Her leadership has inspired new initiatives, expanded educational programs, and strengthened community partnerships, solidifying the museum’s role as a vital cultural and historical resource.
Erin coordinated with the Ottumwa School District to host fun and educational field trips for area students. The field trips resulted in 1,187 students and accompanying adults visiting the museum in 2023 and 2024. This included Ottumwa public schools, a number of area home school groups, as well as a private school.
“I am deeply honored to receive the Rising Star Award from the Iowa Museum Association,” said Erin Naylor. “This recognition is a testament to the hard work and creativity of our entire team at the Iowa Heartland History Connection. Together, we are committed to preserving and sharing the stories that have shaped our community and our state.”
