Fairfield held its City Council meeting Monday night.
The consent agenda was approved with the exception of a liquor license for the Lincoln Center. That item will be moved to the next city council meeting.
Terry Baker was the first to speak in the public forum and she told the council about Bryan Peterson, a 30-year resident of Fairfield who made a sculpture before passing away. Baker said it was unanimously decided by the board of the Fairfield Arts & Convention Center to place the sculpture on the center’s front lawn. The piece is a life-sized horse that is made out of scrap metal. The name of the sculpture is “The Unfinished Horse.” The council approved accepting the gift.
Coucil approved a water quality initiative grant for the Nady Lands.
The construction of the new building for the Fairfield Fire Department has been part of city council discussions and in Monday’s meeting, council approved the plan specifications, form of contract, and engineer’s estimate for the fire station.
Bids for the new fire station are due by November 14. The council will select a bidder on November 25 and the contract will be finalized by the end of the calendar year.
