Each year at this time, Brownfield Ag News, of which Ottumwa Radio Group KRKN and KBIZ is a long-time affiliate, sponsors the Iowa Ag Youth Awards. We work with the Monroe County Fair Board to find two young individuals for the Brownfield Iowa Ag Youth Awards. Our winners receive a specialized belt buckle as well as a Certificate!

Carter Kosman is the son of Joe Kosman and Jill Kosman. Carter graduated from Albia High School with the class of 2024. He has been a member of the Melrose Major’s 4-H Club and the Albia FFA Chapter for the last 9 years. The Monroe County Fair has always been a big highlight of his summer all his life. Carter is well known in the showing in both the Sheep and Swine shows. He has learned a lot by working with his animal projects over the years and his engaged work ethic is top notch. He likes to help out in any way he can with his fellow exhibitors and their livestock projects. Carter pays extra special attention to his younger brother Collin and helps him each and every year. Carter plans to attain his CDL and continue his work with his grandpa on the family farm.
