According to the City of Ottumwa, the Independence Day firework show will be displayed at the Ottumwa Park.
On July 4, the firework display will be held after dark, shortly after 9:30 pm. This annual tradition draws many onlookers from around the area. During the display, traffic on the Wapello Street Extensions will be restricted to only right turns in and out of the park, left turns will be prohibited.
The rain date for the fireworks display will be July 5, according to the City.
The City of Ottumwa would like to remind the public that fireworks are legal in the state of Iowa, any discharging of fireworks in City Parks, Trail Systems, The Beach Ottumwa parking lot, or on city grounds is illegal and can result in a fine up to $500. On July 4, only from 4:00 pm to 10:30 pm may fireworks be discharged on private property in city limits.
