Jeffery K. Wonderlich, age 71, passed away on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at the Keokuk County Health Center and Clinics. He was born on May 23, 1953, in Ottumwa, Iowa, the son of Keith F. and Betty Ann Sloan Wonderlich. He attended Pekin High School and graduated with the Class of 1971. On November 15, 1975, Jeff was united in marriage to Carol Yvonne Reinier in Sigourney, Iowa. To this union a daughter Tanya was born.
Jeff worked as a carpenter alongside his father and brothers, Don and Terry, under Wonderlich Construction. For a time, he operated Wonderlich Tire Shop with family.
He enjoyed camping, mushroom hunting, country line dancing and driving the country roads. He never met a stranger and would talk to everyone, easily making friends. When his grandchildren were little, he loved playing games with them, especially the Wii where Grandpa was the most competitive of the group. He would also let the kids dress him up with fun hats and other accessories, even putting bows on his head. Jeff was proud of his grandchildren’s accomplishments and often remarked that they were just too smart.
Jeff is survived by his daughter Tanya (Don) Bentler of Salem. Grandchildren; Blake, Zoe, Ella and Addison. His brother Terry (Rhonda) Wonderlich of Ollie. Stepmother Trilla Christner of Fairfield, sister in-law RenElla Crawford. In addition, Jeff is also survived by a daughter Heather Davis from a previous marriage and a half-brother Craig Wonderlich.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Yvonne; parents, Keith and Betty; half-brother Michael, half-sister Ann, brother Don and sister-in-law Cheryl Wonderlich.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorials can be made to Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine Research Fund.
