Ed Gordon, 61, of Oskaloosa, passed away at his home on Thursday, June 27, 2024.
Edward Dean Gordon, son of Eldon Dean Gordon and Jan M. Jones, was born June 1, 1963, in Monroe City, Missouri. The family moved to Oskaloosa when Ed was a young child. He graduated with the class of 1981 from Oskaloosa High School. He married Rhonda Sheets, and two daughters were born into that union. They later divorced. On February 22, 2014, he married Tina Marie Mateer. He worked at Vermeer Manufacturing for 18 years and then for Lappin Tire Company. In 2022, Ed retired due to health concerns. Ed loved being outdoors; fishing, hunting, and NASCAR races were some of his favorite activities.
His family includes his wife, Tina; his daughters, Kendra Gordon (Carrie) of Beacon and Abby Gordon (Jerrie) of Oskaloosa; grandsons, Keegan and Gavyn Sims; sisters, Angie (Tim) Cleland of Des Moines and Michelle (Rob) Riggen of Tracy; and his step-father, Wes Jones of Oskaloosa.
In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by a brother, Bryan.
As was his wish, Ed’s body has been cremated. A graveside memorial service at Friends Cemetery in Oskaloosa is pending. Memorial contributions can be made to the family and sent to the funeral chapel. Langkamp Funeral Chapel & Crematory has been entrusted with Ed’s final arrangements.
