KIDDIE PARADE

Not Sponsored by the Ottumwa Community School District

The Oktoberfest Kiddie Parade is a part of the Oktoberfest festivities and will be held on Friday, October 6th at 6:00 PM.  The event is FREE to everyone.  The parade will organize in the parking lot of St. Patrick’s Church. Kids are to enter the parking lot from Ransom Street.  Large animals should line up on Ward Street with the parade also starting from Ward Street then parading down Church Street and ending in the parking lot of South Ottumwa Savings Bank.  There will be NO VEHICLES ALLOWED in the parking lot of St. Patrick’s Church.  This is for the safety of the kids.  To access Ward Street for large animals please enter from Vine Street. 

WE REQUEST THAT ANYONE PARTICIPATING IN THE PARADE NOT THROW CANDY FOR SAFETY REASONS.

Awards will be given in each category.

Classes are as follows:

• year old (accompanied by an adult)
• years old (accompanied by an adult)

Preschool and Kindergarten

Grades 1^st and 2^nd

Grades 3^rd, 4^th & 5^th

Group (day care groups or other organizations with young children)

Floats, wagons, skateboards, etc. (No motorized vehicles allowed)

Pets (horses, dogs, llamas, etc. – Only 5^th grade & younger will be judged)

 

The parade is open to children through 5^th grade.  Older children may participate but are not eligible for judging.  Motorized vehicles / battery operated WILL NOT be permitted in the parade.  I.E. Barbie Cars, Power Wheels.

 

Pre-register ONLINE at www.sosb-ia.com or at South Ottumwa Savings Bank 320 Church Street or 2525 North Court Street, from Monday, September 25th through Noon on Friday, October 6th (the day of the parade).  Participants should meet in the parking lot with their assigned number.  Please no large animals in the parking lot.  These entries may line up on Ward Street adjacent to the parking lot.  Arrive by 5:30 to assemble.  Judging will take place during the parade.  The winners will be announced at the end of the parade so participants are encouraged to stick around and wait for the results. 

 

In case of rain, parade will be moved to Quincy Place Mall (only walking entries will be allowed in the mall and small pets). Listen to Ottumwa Radio for details.

**Kiddie Parade Participants will receive a FREE hotdog at Oktoberfest located at the Jimmy Jones Shelter in Ottumwa Park.  This is good for FRIDAY NIGHT ONLY. **

FOR THE SAFETY OF THE CHILDREN PLEASE DO NOT DRIVE OR PARK YOUR VEHICLE IN THE PARKING LOT WHERE THE KIDS ARE ASSEMBLING.
