A 26 year old Ottumwa woman is facing a number of charges following an incident with a pit bull dog on August 31st.
Ottumwa Police Chief Tom McAndrew says Anita Marie Michel has been charged with restraint of an animal, possessing a pit bull, which is prohibited in Ottumwa, Animals that bite, and failure to have evidence of rabies vaccinations.
Michel was arrested on the charges and released on a police citation. The investigation was the result of an incident that occurred on August 31st that involved Michel’s pit bull that attacked a police officer.
Michel was previously charged on August 1st for possession of a Pit Bull and for not having it vaccinated for rabies. The dog was ordered out of town and was to be removed by August 15th.
