William Anthony Riedel, 85, of Ottumwa, died at 7 a.m. September 25, 2022 at Good Samaritan Society-Ottumwa.
He was born July 12, 1937 in Ottumwa to Dr. Ferdinand G. and Rosalia Elizabeth Riehle Riedel. He married Kathryn Jean McInerney on October 11, 1968 and she preceded him in death on June 19, 2021.
A 1955 graduate of Walsh High School, William had worked for Sieg Trucking, Sorden Music delivering pianos and for South Side Drug delivering prescriptions.
William was a friend of animals and enjoyed feeding the birds and squirrels. He loved a wide variety of music, especially singing with his brothers.
He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church.
Surviving are his daughters, Anna Catherine (Thomas) Vallambroso of Mt. Pleasant, Rosemary Riedel of Montrose, MI and Christina Riedel of Clarksville, TN; two granddaughters, Cordelia Vallambroso and Vienna Riedel; a sister, Sister Rosalia Riedel of Johnston.
He was preceded in death by siblings, Anna Catherine Riedel, Ferdinand, Paul, Joe and John Riedel.
His body has been cremated.
Visitation with the family present to greet friends will be 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 28th at Reece Funeral Home. Private inurnment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Heartland Humane Society.
