Warriors rock Falcons 16-4 in first round, sets up rematch with Bulldogs

The Van Buren County Warriors knocked the West Burlington Falcons 16-4 in first-round playoff action, setting the stage for a rematch with the Mediapolis Bulldogs next Tuesday

The Warriors opened up 2A District 11 play with a bang. After both teams went scoreless in the first inning. The Warriors had a big top of the second inning scoring four runs. The inning was highlighted with two-out RBIs from Lukas McEntee, Jackson Manning, Bailey Roen, and Taylor Sprouse. The Warriors lead after the second 4-0 after Manning sat the Falcons down in the second stranding two runners. The Warriors would explode again in the third inning scoring another six runs. The third inning was highlighted by a McEntee sacrifice fly RBI and a 2 RBI single from Taylor Sprouse to give the Warriors the 10-0 lead halfway through the third. Manning would again keep the Falcons scoreless while stranding two runners in the bottom of the third. The Warriors would be held scoreless in the fourth and the Falcons would score two to cut the lead to 10-2 after four. After a scoreless fifth the Warriors and the Falcons would again score two runs to cut the Warrior lead to 10-4. Both teams would be scoreless in the sixth. The Warriors would put the game away with six runs in the top of the seventh. The Warriors got RBIs in the inning from Lucas Fett (2), Tyler Stoltz (2), Bailey Roen (1), and Jackson Manning (1). Sprouse would strike out the side to secure the Warrior win 16-4.

With the win the Warriors improve to 11-15 and advance to play 2A (RV) Mediapolis on Tuesday night, the Falcons wrap up the season with a record of 11-9
