With the camping season under way, State park officials are asking all campers to help prevent the spread of the Emerald Ash Boroer.
The insect has been found in several counties including Wapello, Jefferson, Des Moines, Union, Bremer and Jasper counties.
Officials note the insect does not travel far on their own, but they’re carried in the back of pickup trucks. Campers are being asked to burn all of their wood fire because leaving their camp site to slow the spread of the insect.
Some communities have already started cutting down some ash trees.
