A two-car accident in Chariton killed two teenagers and injured three other individuals late Sunday afternoon.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, a Ford pickup truck driven by 55-year-old Shawn Blanchard of Des Moines was traveling westbound on Highway 34 and was approaching South First Street.
A Jeep Wrangler driven by 18-year-old Blake Skinner of Corydon was traveling in the opposite direction and attempted to turn north onto South First Street. The Iowa State Patrol says the Jeep turned into the path of the Ford and was broadsided.

Shawn Blanchard was injured and transported to Chariton Hospital. 55-year-old Angel Blanchard, a passenger in the truck, was transported via helicopter to Des Moines.
