The construction of a pedestrian tunnel that would connect Wayside Park with Ottumwa Park got a financial infusion Tuesday.
During the Wapello County Board of Supervisors meeting, the board approved a recommendation to provide the project with 5-thousand dollars. Previously, the Supervisors had agreed to provide the project with one thousand dollars.
Numerous entities have contributed funds for the project including 260-thousand dollars from the Ottumwa Legacy Foundation and 175-thousand dollars from the Wapello County trails Council.
