Toddler killed in Mishap

A two year old Appanoose County toddler was killed Monday afternoon following an accident in rural Appanoose County.

The Appanoose County Sheriff’s Department says shortly before 2:30 p.m. Robert D. Broshar of 23-508 230th Avenue was moving a 1999 Chevy Suburban in his driveway when he struck his two year old granddaughter.

Deputies say Broshar immediately transported his granddaughter to Mercy Medical Center in Centerville where she later died from injuries received in the mishap.

Deputies say the granddaughter was inside the house and Broshar was outside warming the suburban in order to go into Centerville to pick-up another granddaughter.  While he was warming the vehicle he began to move it unaware that his granddaughter was outside.

The mishap remains under investigation.
