The Lord’s Cupboard Seeks Volunteers

By Ellis Codjoe, December 02, 2019

Every December, The Lord’s Cupboard says they distribute hundreds of Christmas meal boxes to needy families in Jefferson County. They are asking for the public to help make their annual undertaking a reality.

This year, the Fairfield-based food pantry will be filling the Christmas meal boxes at the Fairfield Arts and
Convention Center. Volunteers are welcome to show up to help on Thursday, December 12 at 5:30 PM. The Lord’s Cupboard says high schoolers are welcome and they should bring their volunteer forms to be signed.

Each meal box contains ingredients for a traditional Christmas dinner and other holiday-related food items. According to The Lord’s Cupboard, each box weighs around 35 pounds and volunteers are recommended to bring gloves.

In a press release, The Lord’s Cupboard says half of the people they serve are under the age of 18. Donations of food or money are always accepted. The food pantry is located at 303 North 4th Street in Fairfield and their hours are Monday through Friday, 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
