Ottumwa students will have an extended Thanksgiving break this year.
According to a press release, Ottumwa Schools will be on holiday break the week of November 22. This is a change from the original 2021-22 calendar. Classes will be released on Friday, November 19 at 1 p.m. and students will return on Monday, November 29.
The district decided to extend the break to provide additional time for students, parents, and staff to spend with family. This break will also provide an opportunity for our building and maintenance staff to continue facility projects as part of the Be The Best Initiative as well as deep cleaning and sanitizing without any disruptions to students or staff.
“In the spirit of Thanksgiving, I am grateful for all the sacrifices made this year to support and help others,” said Superintendent Mike McGrory.
The district’s Prime Time Youth Care (PTYC) program will be open Monday, November 22 and Tuesday, November 23, 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Wednesday, November 24, 6 a.m. to 5 p.m.
