Suspect Nabbed Moments After BP Robbery


(Press Release) On Saturday, December 24, 2016, at approximately 5:00 a.m., the Ottumwa Police Department responded to a call of a Robbery that had just taken place at BP Gas Station located at 533 N. Jefferson, Ottumwa.

The victim was identified as Ruben Florencio, age 26, of Ottumwa.  Florencio is a clerk at the gas station.

The suspect was located a short distance away from the gas station and taken into custody.  Ottumwa Police arrested Robert Anthony Carrillo, age 29, of Ottumwa.  Carrillo was arrested and charged with Robbery in the 2nd Degree, a Class “C” Felony.

Carrillo is being held in the Wapello County Jail with a bond set at $10,000 cash only.

Please note the following pursuant to recent Supreme Court rulings:   “A criminal charge is merely an accusation and a defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.”
