Steven Jonathon Hiatt, age 64 of Exline, passed away Thursday, May 19, 2022 at his home.
Steve was born on March 25, 1958 in Centerville, Iowa, the son of Max and Betty (McConville) Hiatt. While attending Centerville High School, he was a stand-out athlete, and he also had numerous no-hitters pitched in baseball. Steve graduated from Centerville High School.
Steve loved being outdoors, working on his tractor and maintaining his acreage. He was a sports enthusiast and enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Left to honor his memory are his wife, Diane Dal Ponte of Exline; his son, Zachary Jon Hiatt of Centerville; his step children, Kyle (Hollie) Dal Ponte of Russell, and Jackie (Jack) Stajcar of Unionville, Iowa; four grandchildren, Violet Hiatt, Jacob Stajcar, Kylie Dal Ponte and Jacob Farrell; his mother-in-law, Carol O’Hair of Centerville; a sister-in-law, Julie McGrann (Barry Conner) of Centerville; siblings, Jeanne Jacobson, Marti (Jim) Mefferd, Chuck (Becky) Hiatt, Pat (Michelle) Hiatt; as well as several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Max and Betty Hiatt; his in-laws, Mark McGrann and Eileen Thomas; a nephew, Travis O’Toole; and a niece, Tina O’Toole.
Per Steve’s wishes, cremation has been accorded. A private family gathering will take place at a later date.
