Southeast Iowa Under Heat Advisory

By Ellis Codjoe, June 15, 2018

Southeast Iowa will be experiencing the hottest days of the year this weekend.

The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory that will be in effect from Friday afternoon to Sunday evening. Highs will be in the mid to high 90s all weekend. The heat index is expected to be around 100 degrees, getting as high as 105. There won’t be much relief at nighttime as the lows will only dip to the 70s.

NWS advises everyone to drink plenty of fluids, limit their exposure to the sun, stay in air conditioned rooms and check up on neighbors and relatives. Do not leave small children or pets in a parked car, even for a minute. Also, if you must spend time outside wear lightweight and light colored clothing.
