On January 28,2022 Sheryl Ann Friedman, 61, of Blakesburg, Iowa, went peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior, and we said “until we meet again” to the bravest and strongest woman we have ever known.

Sheryl was born in Cedar Rapids on April 6, 1960 and spent her childhood in Watkins, Iowa and graduated from Benton Community High School in 1978. When she was just 17, she met the love of her life, Dave. On September 23, 1978 they were united in marriage.

She was an amazing wife of over 43 years and loved every minute she could spend with her soulmate. She was the greatest mother to Josh Friedman (Nicole Friedman) and April Glosser (Brad Glosser). She loved her kids and three grandchildren with all of her heart. Lis Glosser was her heart, Landon Glosser was her soul, and Paisley Friedman was her shooting star. She was the best grandmother you could ever imagine. She enjoyed singing, dancing, cooking, and most of all taking trips with her grandkids.

She was so proud to go to college at William Penn and earn a teaching degree. She was an inspirational teacher and dean of students at Blakesburg Elementary for over 29 years. She was a huge advocate for children and always found a special bond with children who truly needed it. Even when kids were sent to the office, she would let them wear her jewelry and truly try to bond with each and every one. She loved animals of every kind, especially her goats. Stray animals often found their way into her heart and she could never say no to them staying. She loved travel and teaching, but most of all her family. Family was everything to her, whether it was taking an amazing vacation, a Sunday dinner with all of her family or just a simple walk around the back field, she lived for every moment she could spend with her family. Holidays always held a special place in her heart; she would spend hours decorating her home inside and out. She looked forward to spring every year, so she could start planting flowers again and because that also meant summer was near, and then she could go camping and enjoy summer vacations with her family. Sheryl had a deep love for God. She journaled and read devotionals every single day.

She was preceded in death by her mom, Virginia Moore Lenter and her hero- her dad, Duane Lentner.

Her love of life will live on through her loving husband, Dave, her two children, three grandchildren and many other family and friends who knew how special she was.

A short prayer service will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 5th at Blakesburg Elementary gym, 407 S. Wilson St, Blakesburg, IA. A time to greet family and celebrate her life will follow until 1:00 pm. Saturday.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Blakesburg Elementary School or Wapello County Trails.

Reece Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
