Semi owner arrested

A man accused of stealing his own semi from a repair shop in southeast Iowa has been arrested and charged in connection with the case.

Charlie Shanebrook is charged with First degree theft and is being held in the Mahaska County jail.

Surveillance video shows a man overnight inside the business for hours before he drove out of the shop with his semi.  The business owner said the man never paid a 15-thousand dollar bill to have the semi’s engine rebuilt.

After the story went public, the business owner says he received many tips from truck drivers who had seen the semi with the driver’s name on it driving around southeast Iowa.

Shanebrook was arrested late last week and charged with First degree theft.
