A southeast Iowa man faces multiple felonies after authorities say he repeatedly sexually assaulted a child over the course of a year.
32-year-old Matthew Wettstein of Bloomfield has been charged with four counts of second-degree sexual abuse, a Class B felony.
According to court documents, Wettstein sexually assaulted a girl under the age of 14 numerous times from September 1st, 2020 to September 30th, 2021. Additionally, the victim told investigators Wettstein brandished a gun and told her not to tell anyone about the assaults.
Wettstein was arrested this past Thursday and transported to the Davis County Jail. He is currently free after posting a $200,000 cash bond.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Tuesday. Wettstein has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
