The administrative offices of the Ottumwa School District will change locations. Superintendent of schools, Dr. Davis Eidahl says the offices will be moved to the second floor of the Agassiz school building.
Eidahl says in terms of facilities, the McCarroll location is the next building that needs to be closed. While not the district’s oldest building, there are immediate needs that would require substantial rresources in order to occupy it. He says the building’s design……especially the roof make repair issues even more challenging. He says it is not cost effective to continue to utilize a building designed for 400 students.
The district is seeking a building that is on one level to provide access to everyone in a more visable location and that represents the district and Ottumwa in a positive way.
The district had initially planned to construct a new facility near the Great Prairie Area Educationn Agency. Once the design work was completed and let to contractors, bids came back over initial cost estimates. The district is also considering moving warehouse offices and storage to the final administrative site as well eliminating another aging building from the district use.
The Administrative office phone numbers will remain the same as will the fax number.
