A southeast Iowa cheese factory is closing it’s doors. Officials at Twin County Dairy has announced it will close immediately. Known as the Kalona Cheese Factory, the company employed 50 people.
Owners of the company John and Joanne Roltin says the cost of changes to food quality assurance and environmental regulations are the blame.
Employees laid off will receive severance pay and compensation. Officials say the Cheese House located in the factory will remain open.
