Ronald D. Baker, 77, of Ottumwa, died at 4:30 p.m. March 3, 2023 at MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center.
He was born December 4, 1945 in Ottumwa to Donald E. and Gertrude L. Anderson Baker. He married Rebecca McCarty Kranz October 6, 1995.
A 1964 graduate of Ottumwa High School, he served in the Iowa Army National Guard. Ron worked a short time for a car parts store and for 30 years at John Deere Ottumwa Works.
Ron enjoyed his cars, attending antique car shows with his friends and rebuilding cars.
Surviving is his wife, Becky; two sons, Christopher Baker of Ottumwa and Rodney (Stephanie) Baker of Albia; three step-children, Desi (Craig) Payne of Ottumwa, Cindy Demetres of Orlando, FL and Jeff (Tish) Kranz of Fremont; 14 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; a brother, Don Baker of Agency; two sisters, Marsha (David) Findlay of Davenport and Sherrill (Larry) Kleinman of Ottumwa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister-in-law, JoEllen Baker; a daughter-in-law, Stacey Baker; a step-daughter, Lisa Kranz; a step-grandson, Cody Kosman, and a great grandson, Asher Franke.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 9th at Family Harvest Church in Agency with Dr. Craig Payne officiating.
His family will be present one hour prior to the service to greet friends. Cremation will follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the family to help pay for medical expenses.
