Robert Edwards Sr.

Robert “Bob” W. Edwards Sr., 76, of Ottumwa died at 2:52 p.m. May 4, 2018 at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

He was born November 27, 1941 in Rose Hill to Emmett and Mary Goad Edwards.  He married Linda Lucille Gravitt and they later divorced.

Having grown up in Pella, he was a resident of Ottumwa the last 30 years. Bob drove truck for many years with “Rapid Robert” as his trucking CB handle and farmed with Roberta in his later years.

He was a member of First Baptist Church in Pella.

Bob enjoyed playing guitar in his younger years, boating, riding motorcycles and loved the outdoors.  He was proud to be a “Pelican” growing up in Pella, IA as he had a Dutch heritage.

Surviving is a special friend, Roberta Nimocks of Ottumwa; a daughter, Shelly Edwards of Ottumwa; three sons, David, Scott, and Bob Jr. (Connie) Edwards all of Oskaloosa; six grandchildren, Emmett (Becky), Matthew (Jennifer), Gideon, Coltin, Caleb and Collette; four great grandchildren, Madisyn, Blake, Brady, and Roan; a brother, Richard “Dick” Edwards of Oskaloosa.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Pat Vos.

His body has been cremated.

Visitation with the family present will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Reece Funeral Home.

Graveside services and inurnment will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Agency Cemetery with Pastor Mel Kendall officiating.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
