Richard D. Heater, 85, of Keosauqua died at 5:11 P.M. Wednesday December 24, 2014 at Van Buren County Hospital, Keosauqua. He was born September 11, 1929 in Burlington to Clyde and Jessie Edwards Heater and married Patricia Dunn November 20, 1949 at her parents’ home in the Sharon community north of Farmington. She died August 20, 2013.
“Dick” graduated from Fairfield High School and was employed 35 years by Iowa Electric Light & Power Company, working both in Fairfield and Keosauqua and retired in 1986.
He was a member of Keosauqua United Methodist Church, had been a long–time member of the Riverview Club, Keosauqua and was a strong supporter of Bonaparte Main Street.
Surviving are two daughters, Barbara Morris (Ben) of Keosauqua and Gianna Barrow (Roy) of Bonaparte, four grandchildren, Matthew Morris, Carrie Larsen (Colby, Heath Barrow (Amber) and Abbe Ball (Ryan) and six great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by two sisters, Esther Peebler and Margaret Siebert.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday December 30, 2014 at Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua, Rev. Herb Shafer and Rev. Doug Harding officiating. Visitation will open at 3 P.M. Monday at the funeral home with family present from 5-7 P.M. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, southeat of Mt. Pleasant. Memorials to Bonaparte Main Street or charity of donor’s choice may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at P.O. Box 217, Keosauqua, IA 52565.
