Raymond Wendel Smith was born on July 3, 1932, in Hamburg, IA, the only child of Vern and Letha Landers Smith. He graduated from Rockport High School in Rockport, MO and went on to the Midwest School of Evangelism and worked at Baird Radio and TV to pay for tuition and room and board. Raymond joined the United States Army where he proudly served his country until his honorable discharge. Shortly after returning home, he married the love of his life, Grace Nordyke. Together they became the loving parents of three children: Richard, Debra, and Vernon. After moving to Agency, he started Agency Radio and TV. He would install towers and repair TVs in the local area. Raymond and Grace would call Agency their home for the remainder of their life. He retired from Louden’s in Fairfield in 1995. Raymond grew up in a time where you took care of what you had and fixed it if it broke. He dug out the basement of their home by hand and poured his foundation walls. He always enjoyed tinkering and knew the value of hard work. Raymond will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife Grace (2021).

Left to honor his memory are his children, Richard (Donna) Smith of Agency, IA, Debra (Rodney) Ritz of Batavia, IA, and Vernon Smith of Agency, IA; three grandchildren, Tabatha Hartley, Courtney Waddle(Cody), and Shelby Smith (Alex Felland); three great grandchildren, Logan Ables, Addison Ables, and Aelyn Waddle, as well as many extended family and friends.
