Police: Ottumwa Woman Broke into Home, Threatened to Kill Occupant

An Ottumwa woman faces a felony charge after allegedly breaking into a residence and pointing a gun at one of its occupants.

35-year-old Melissa Thomason has been charged with first-degree burglary, a Class B felony.

Ottumwa police say the victim told officers that Thomason broke into his home on September 14th. Thomason then forced her way into the victim’s bedroom, placed a gun against his head, and threatened to kill him. Authorities say the incident was witnessed by the victim’s roommate.

A warrant for Thomason’s arrest was issued on October 4th and she was taken into custody the following day.

Thomason is currently in the Wapello County Jail. Her bail has been set at $25,000.

Thomason has been ordered not to have any contact with the victim.
