Pizza Hut Changes Ownership

By Ellis Codjoe, July 11, 2018

Pizza Hut restaurants in the Heartland will be under different ownership.

It was announced on Wednesday afternoon that Tennyson Enterprises will sell their Iowa and Missouri Pizza Hut restaurants to IMO Huts.

Allen Thompson is the Director of Operations at Tennyson Enterprises who will be assuming the same position at IMO Huts. He mentioned that the buyer has already met with restaurant managers and employees to assure them that none of the restaurants will be closed and the same agreements that existed with the previous owners will be honored. Sale is pending final approval by Pizza Hut Incorporated, the parent company, which should be completed by September 2018.

“It will be business as usual,” Thompson said.

For the sellers, it’s the end of an era. Ivan and Rochelle Tennyson opened their first Pizza Hut in Fairfield in 1968. Together, they opened Pizza Hut franchises in Iowa, Illinois, Missouri and Minnesota. Ivan Tennyson passed away in 2012. Rochelle Tennyson recently made the decision to retire, Thompson said.

IMO Huts have been Pizza Hut Franchisees since 1970 and operate 41 Pizza Huts in Kansas, Oklahoma and Ohio.
