Phillip Raymond Guy Brown, age 41, of Des Moines, formerly of Numa, passed away Wednesday, October 12, 2022 at MercyOne Medical Center in Des Moines.

Phil was born on September 19, 1981 in Centerville, Iowa, the son of Phillip “Buck” Raymond Brown and Kellie (Strode) Brown. In 2007, he began dating the love of his life, and on February 13, 2017, Phil was united in marriage to Stephanie Young.  To this union, his son Ace was born.

Phil always said he “wasn’t going to be here for a long time, but was going to be here for a good time.”  He never met a stranger, and was able to make conversation with anyone. Phil would always be sure that all of his friends and their families were doing okay, by reaching out to them as often as possible. He was friends with everyone he came in contact with, and always gave anyone a chance. Last year on his birthday, Phil went sky diving, which was one of the main things on his bucket list. Phil’s pride and joy was his son, Ace. He would brag about him any chance he got.

Phil worked full-time at Capitol City Fruit in Norwalk for the past 10 years. He enjoyed working there and having a good conversation with his fellow employees.

Left to honor Phil’s memory are his wife, Stephanie Brown of Des Moines; his son, Ace Joseph Guy Brown of Des Moines; his mother, Kellie Brown of Pleasant Hill; his mother-in-law, Teresa Young of Seymour; his aunts, Tina (Tug) McMahon of Centerville, Iowa, Zip (Randy) McDaniel, Deborah Senne, Kelly Cockerham, and Kim Brandt all of Des Moines, Iowa; brothers-in-law, Jerel (Samantha) Young of Corydon and Jaron (Jacey) Young of Unionville, Missouri; as well as many extended family and friends.

Phil was preceded in death by his father, Buck Brown; his siblings, Nathan Brown and Sarah J. Brown; his maternal grandmother, Mary Strode; his paternal grandparents, Raymond “Buck” (Annabelle) Brown and Gladys Cardenas; his father-in-law, Jerry Young; as well as several family members and friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30AM, Tuesday, October 18, 2022 at Lange Funeral Home and Crematory in Centerville with Pastor Kay Singley officiating.  Burial will follow the service at Numa Cemetery in Numa, Iowa.  Visitation will take place Monday, October 17, 2022 at Lange Funeral Home in Centerville, with the family greeting friends from 5-8PM.  In lieu of flowers, Memorials have been established to Stephanie Brown, to be determined at a later date, and may be mailed to Lange Funeral Home and Crematory, ATTN: Brown family, 1900 South 18th Street, Centerville, Iowa 52544.  Condolences may be shared online at www.langefh.com or on our funeral home Facebook page.
