Pella Woman Pleads Not Guilty in Murder Case


A Pella woman charged accused of murdering her estranged husband’s girlfriend pleaded not guilty earlier this week.

Pella police say 55-year-old Michelle Boat stabbed 46-year-old Tracy Mondabough of Ottumwa at an apartment complex during an argument on May 18th. Officers arrived on scene an discovered Mondabough injured inside of a vehicle. Life saving measures were deployed but Mondabough was declared dead at the scene.

Boat was married for 20 years to her husband before the pair separated in March, according to reports. The husband was dating Mondabough at the time of the incident.

Boat was initially charged with violation of a no contact order when she was apprehended by authorities. A day later the charge was amended to first-degree murder.

Boat’s next court appearance is scheduled for July 30th.
