Pella Fire Injures Two

Firefighters in Pella endured the snow and cold while battling a structure fire over the weekend.

According to multiple reports, the Pella Fire Department responded to a blaze at the A.G. Law Building just off the Pella town square at 2:45 early Saturday morning.

When crews arrived on scene, the building was engulfed in flames and the roof collapsed. Nine inches of snow fell on Friday but plow truck drivers were able to clear snow in front of the fire department and at the scene of the fire.

There were no fatalities and two people were able to escape the building with minor injuries, according to the Pella Fire Department.

The Oskaloosa Fire Department assisted in the fire. It took crews approximately five hours to put out the blaze. The law office was declared a total loss.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
